"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."
-Mahatma Ghandi
Today I was bound and determined to sit down and scrapbook my lovely trip to Europe. Instead I spent the day watching this brave boy get a microscopic piece of metal unembedded from his cornea. Just not what I expected when I got out of bed this morning.
The poor kid had goop and eyedrops and fingers and swabs and finally a needle poked in his eye. I jab contacts into my eyes every morning but can't help but think that they would have had to sedate me through the experience that Jonah handled this afternoon with anxiety but courage.
He earned himself a mile-high mudd pie for this little ordeal. I had me a few bites as well. After all, I watched the whole thing and didn't pass out once.
Well, it's back to school tomorrow. Jonah can now, in clear conscience, inform his teacher that he is not exposing the entire class to pinkeye.
